Hi there!
We're Colleen and Roger Lee. We are making this Gofundme page for our dear friends, Elizabeth and Alfred Onekalit. Thank you for taking the time to read their story! We have lived in Uganda for the last 5 years and have had the privlege of knowing Alfred and Elizabeth both as singles and then as a married couple.
We were honored when they asked us to perform their marriage ceremony in 2016.
Elizabeth is a survivor of ovarian cancer and has been cancer free for over 9 years! Due to her battle with cancer, Elizabeth and Alfred knew that they would not be able to have children without help, but they felt that God wanted to bless them with a child and to not give up hope for a family.
Now, entering into their second year of marriage, they feel ready to start their family. They've been praying and asking God how they could have a child and feel his leading to do IVF. They have done a TON of research and pricing and found the most affordable, quality clinic for them in South Africa. They will be able to do some testing in Uganda, but will need to live in South Africa for 2 weeks for their treatments.
They will need to raise $12,000 to cover the cost of:
-Medical testing in Uganda
-Roundtrip flights to South Africa
-Entry Visas
-Lodging in South Africa for 2 weeks
-Living expenses for 2 weeks
-IVF tests and treatment
Elizabeth and Alfred do not ask for your help lightly (in fact, we asked if we could do this for them 6 months ago and they finally agreed after much prayer!). They are also working hard to save towards this goal, but it will be another 5 years before they reach it unless we help them! We understand not everyone can donate with money, but they will take donations in the form of PRAYER and ENCOURAGEMENT!
So as we have decided to use GoFundMe as their platform for donations due to the ease and safety of the program, they do however charge a fee.
(5% GoFundMe platform) + (2.9% + 0.30 payment processing)= 7.9%+ $0.30 per donation
If you would like to donate through another avenue to prevent the fee being taken out we will update the total amount as such donations come in through Pay Pal or offline donations.
