I AM DEVASTATED… I AM BROKEN… I AM LOST…

I am heartbroken to convey this message with you…

I had the life in Oxford that corresponded to me. I was living in a peaceful, vibrant and growing city. My job at Shuropody enabled me to live my life as I felt perfect… It was with an enormous joy I have received my unconditional offer to study my bachelor’s degree in Business Management & International Relations at OBU (Oxford Brookes University), however, because the overall tuition fees were too much expensive, I decided to study in Scotland. Scotland? Genuinely? I did not know anything about this state…but as a challenging person, I have dived into an education life in Glasgow.

Indeed, I have got my unconditional offer to study my HND (Higher National Diploma) degree in Business at Glasgow Clyde College and surprisingly, I have loved my lectures, my units and anything related from my course. Unfortunately, I do not see myself living in Glasgow for a long run. I intend to go back to Oxford with my degree qualification in hands and join OBU (2nd year entry) in order to achieve my undergraduate degree. Ohh wait mate...perhaps Oxford University or Harvard will suit me? – So many ambitions and big dreams in mind.

After shortly moved to Glasgow with a gleeful emotion and £2,000 BUCKS in my pocket, I signed a temporary contract with one of the best housing brand in the UK (Laura Ashley) but guess what? The brand closed down many of its branches and consequently, I lost my job. I have been looking for a new job for over a month, in contrast, despite my all experiences… I was struggling to be the successful applicant which is bizarre, to be honest.

Furthermore, I have lost my permanent accommodation in Glasgow as the owner moved to another place in the UK and as a result, I have been moving around being worried for my life. Being financially independent, not having an income, running out of money and living my life with a stressful mind, I was, and I am wondering myself “who I would become…tomorrow?!”.

In contrast, God is good and the “wisest”, so he told me to carry on until yesterday I received a telephone call saying: “Mr Gassama? Are you available now for a discussion? Yes, I exclaimed. Him: “I have received your application with your magnificent cover letter for the role of Customer Service Agent and I would like to know further…”; “Absolutely! I am up to give more details related to who I am and the situation I am today” I replied. After a while…he told me “Mr Gassama… I am genuinely impressed by your background and understand your current circumstance, therefore I am pleased to say…CONGRATULATIONS FOR HAVING GOT THE JOB OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT AT THE NHS 111 BY TELEPERFORMANCE (outsourcing company)”.

A MOOD THAT CAN NOT BE EXPLAINED BUT ONLY THE PERSON WHO WAS KNOCKING ON SHOPS DOORS WITH ME, KNEW THE EXCITEMENT AND HAPPINESS THROUGH MY DAZZLING SMILE.

I am so overwhelmed to have gotten a job with the NHS 111, however, my situation makes me cry… Indeed, it is with a gutted feeling that I can not do my job in a wave of peace and cool environment – Staying in a hotel while having £20 in my bank account is not my lifestyle. This is with sadness that I am conveying this message to you in order to help me out with what you can. Broadly, speaking, support is definitely needed. I barely ask for help but I guess this the moment to do so. I wish to raise £1,000 that would help me to finance an accommodation and perform my job effectively.

Thank you enormously in advance.

Kind regards,
Mahamadou Gassama
