My mom is the kindest, most selfless, and giving individual you will ever come across. Any one that has met her, even for only a moment, will say the same.
A few nights ago, with the insane storms/tornados that occurred in parts of Maryland, my mother's house was severely damaged.
The unforeseen amounts of water leaked into the pipes of this 1950's home, causing them to burst. My mom's living room, kitchen, and utility room are demolished. Appliances, carpet, cabinetry, everything = ruined.
Upon contacting her insurance company, they claimed they are unable to cover the expenses of the damage due to pre-existing mold that my mom was (obviously) unaware of.
These damages, totalling ~$20,000, are now left for my mom to handle.
My mom, a single mother, working 2 jobs to make ends meet daily. My mom, a woman who worked 100+ hour a week, for as long as I can remember, to provide her daughter, myself, with a safe and comfortable home. She always told me one of her biggest accomplishments was settling on this house. Now her biggest accomplishment is sitting in shambles in front of her.
Yesterday, stressed after a phone call with State Farm, my mom grabbed my hand and said "what am I going to do now?" I've never experienced something quite like the feeling when she asked me that. I know that I need to help, in any way I possibly can.
My mother will go to unforeseen lengths for even a stranger. It's time that she received the same treatment. I can't stand to see her hurt like this.
With that being said, any amount, dollar, or cent is greatly appreciated but never expected.
*This is going to be a surprise for my mom, she has no idea I'm posting this and would probably slap me for asking for help!*
