We thought now, on the first day of this year, is a perfect time to let you all know what we've been planning for a bit now.
When we started this business, it was to provide a local source for cloth diapers and educate parents on usage and benefits. Something I had personally educated myself on and was happy, and willing to share my knowledge with others. It gave me a way to keep working while at home with two kids. When we opened our store front, that first intention changed. I then wanted to provide products I loved using with my kids that I couldn't find locally, and I found how much parents appreciated our classes and groups to help parents learn and connect with each other. This, this is what became the heart of our business.
My intention to have some community, connection, and learning uniquely tied to our store, has brought me so much good. Not just friends, but a sense that our store is meaningful to our community beyond that of being a small business. 3 years ago we dropped half our retail to add a play area for parents. That was a scary change and I wasn't sure how it was going to be received, but it has proved to be a space that parents are looking for. This sparked a desire to grow the play area, to really press into the community, connection, and education part of our business.
After a couple years of struggling to find the right space, we have found one. That's right, our store will be moving and evolving this year, with a goal of opening in June 2021! What will this look like? We will keep retail, but our play area will increase by 3 times, AND we will have a cafe inside, and a party room for birthdays. Our location will be: 1832 West Superior Street, Enger Lofts.
With the much larger play area AND a cafe, we will also be providing classes for parents, and parent groups, so we can continue to provide support and connection.
Guys...this has been my goal for over 3 years, and I wasn't sure it was going to happen! And then throw a little pandemic in the mix...I feel so grateful to be able to write this and tell you...this is going to happen!!!
This is a stressful and scary time to do a move, but we are confident this is something our area needs. If you believe this is something Duluth needs, please support us! If this is a space that you as parents need and want, please consider helping us!
