Little Bear Stables Feed & Supplies

Little Bear Stables is a small family farm in Lancaster, MA. We have recently taken on the mission of rescuing kill pen horses, horses that would otherwise end up on the slaughter line. These horses are worked their entire lives, and then dumped off at auction for rock bottom prices. They are often picked off by kill buyers and sent to Mexico for meat. The ones that are lucky enough to stay off the trucks are passed from auction to auction, in the hopes of getting more money for them than what a meat price would bring.  They are stuffed in overcrowded pens, without enough food, and often with animals that are sick. They are mistreated and terrified, and very aware of what is happening to them. It is heartbreaking and no animal deserves to suffer this way, especially after all they have done for us. While we know saving them all is an impossible task, for anyone, we are going to help as many as we can! 

Some of these horses will be rehabbed, re-trained, and adopted into loving homes. However, some can not be adopted and will remain with us in retirement. As you can imagine rescuing and rehabbing horses is an expensive undertaking. Building a barn, shelter, fencing, steep Veterinarian and farrier fees, and feeding these animals is costly. We hope to someday become a non-profit, however as of now we are relying on donations and pony rides to help us care for and rescue these guys! We are setting up a go-fund-me for financial support, but would also accept other supplies including tack, feed and hay, blankets, feed buckets, and grooming and barn supplies in good condition.
