Lissa’s breast cancer journey

As a physician I never thought cancer was going to touch my immediate family but on July 27th 2018 at 6pm I received one of the most scariest news of my life... my 35 y/o single mom sister was being diagnosed with poorly differentiated ductal carcinoma of the left breast. My whole world broke apart!!! ... How am I going to help her if we live in different countries? Who should I referred her to? Who will take care of her (for those of you that don’t know, my dad lives in Orlando and my mom was killed in a hit and run accident back in 2008 at age of 51)? What will happen with my niece? How will she support herself financially? What will happen with her job? How will my 6 y/o niece handle the news? Which chemo will she be given?... staging tests started right away and we discovered mets on her right shoulder and right posterior 4th and 5th ribs very close to the right  lung . As a physician and older sister I feel useless because my hands are tided... cannot provide medical care for my own family and cannot even take care of her (cook for her, do her grocery shopping, help her bathing, watch my niece, take her to school...) because I am far away!!! I cannot even provide her with financial support because I am struggling myself to make a living and develop my practice ... since July 27th I had multiple sleepless nights thinking on how would I handle every possible escenario and how can I help, because that’s what physicians are trained to do... help and care for our patients and family!
Her journey is just starting... she will receive chemo, them surgery (mastectomy, will remove her uterus and her ovaries), oncology is not sure if radiotherapy will be needed yet (some test still pending) ... So, here I am, asking all of you for help... help with what you can... even a penny will be highly appreciated!!!
