Lisa's Medical Coding Career

I recently separated from my partner of 40 years. I was a housewife for the first 25 years of our relationship. A serious financial crisis forced me back into the workforce. I successfully completed  a half-assed medical insurance certification course at my local community college with a 4.0 average and worked for 13 years in the healthcare business as a Durable Medical Equioment claims expert for a non-profit that administers Medi-Cal, California's version of Medicaid. Due to a confluence of circumstances, I retired at 65 and moved to Las Vegas because the cost of living was so much cheaper then Santa Cruz. I also have dear friends here.

My original dream was to become a certified medical coder, but life got in my way. I find myself wanting and needing to fulfill that dream now. I desperately need to increase my income.  The complete course, including the exam to be certified is listed at $4200. This could be reduced by my $90 membership fee I would also need a laptop computer and good wi-fi since these are online courses. Books and other fees would be needed, as well.

I get $800/ month from Social Security and I get $85/month in Food Stamps and I now qualify for Medicare and Medicaid. I have a minimum wage part -time job, so that would allow me the time and some extra income that I would need to complete my studies. The course could take a year, but it is a self paced online course, so I could finish earlier. 

With your help, I will be able to make more money doing something I think I would enjoy. I would be most appreciative of any help anyone can give me. Asking for money is not easy for me to do, but I cannot let my pride stop me from  trying to achieve a little financial stability in my old age.  

I beieve strongly that I can be successful at this and I ask you to believe in me, too. I am intelligent and an excellent student and I feel I would not let any contributors down. Please help me make the end of my life less stressful and more productive.
