Lisa's ExoSym Fundraiser

I was born with a severe clubfoot that left me with deteriorating chronic pain and an ever growing list of limitations as I got older. 3 years ago (August 2014) I received an incredible device called an ExoSym. It's a hybrid of an orthotic and prosthetic that offloads any impact when I step allowing me to walk, run, jump, etc without pain. To say it is life changing is an understatement... this device is life-GIVING. I hoped to achieve a level of activity that would let me walk longer, go out dancing, grocery shop without using the cart as a walker... the little things in life that are the most important. To my own surprise I've been able to achieve all of that and 1000% more. I have become so active and strong that I have cracked my current device twice now as it was simply not meant for me to be doing THIS much. I take it as a compliment since it is not often that a woman of my size can break an ExoSym... but I'm pushing this one far past it's capabilities. I'm in need of a replacement - the repairs I've been getting on the same crack location will be temporary and likely continue to be needed. I was unable to get insurance coverage and am left with a $9000 expense if I'd like to continue to have this quality of life I've been so blessed with. The new device will not only be stronger, it will fit my foot better (since it’s size has changed over the years) and will be designed for the dynamic movements that Crossfit has regularly! I’ve put off all Crossfit competitions and traveling to start saving some money and putting it aside but time is not on my side.
