Hello Everyone,
My husband wrote the following;
This is her unfortunate but unforgettable and inspiring journey.
When Lisa was an infant she had an undetermined condition, the Dr’s at the time were baffled. It was determined she had JRA or Juvenile Rhumatoid Arthritis but didn’t treat it correctly because at the time little was known about it. Her parents were told she’d never walk and most likely wouldn’t live past the age of 40. What JRA did was eat away at her joints leaving her with stunted growth and fused joints limiting her movement.
She grew into a magnificent woman full of beauty on the inside and outside never letting her limitations define her. She learned to walk with the aid of special crutches, learned to drive, got her college degree and entered the workforce becoming a beacon of hope and inspiration to everyone around her. No matter who it was or where we were she has always had kind words, comforting and inspiring thoughts. She has always done so well that most often forget about her disablities.
While she never let her limitations define her her body was slowly and steadily crushing itself. And now, very sadly, her body is finally defining what time she has left.
As her health declines she needs more and more care at home and sadly her insurance only covers a limited amount. Every day tasks that you or I take for granted she needs help with, getting out of bed, showering, getting dressed, making meals and no longer able to drive. Her immune system is compromised so exposure to something like Covid19 would be fatal. Along with needing more help around the house and not wanting to bring home the possibility of Covid19 I have been staying home more and more. Despite declining income the bills do not stop.
In sickness and in health...We have been together for 22 years and I vowed to walk beside her to the end. This is heartbreaking but I will be there no matter what and any help is humbly appreciated.
