Lisa Tackles Breast Cancer

Lisa Mahnken is one of the sweetest 37-year old's you could ever hope to meet.  She recently discovered that she has ductal carcinoma (breast cancer) and will be undergoing a double mastectomy shortly. As a stay-at-home mother to 5 children, she is going to need all the help she can get. The family is facing a high deductible for the surgery and tests, as well as travel expenses for all pre and post visits with the numerous specialists and surgeons. Her husband Drew will also need to take time off at Publix (as the sole income earner) to assist in her recovery. A little later this year, they will incur more expenses as Lisa undergoes reconstruction. Finances are the last thing she should have to be worried about.

Lisa is well-known to be a giving and loving caretaker and friend. She stood strong when her newborn had to undergo open heart surgery. She's one of the first to volunteer to help, and additionally leads a church study group every week. 

Next week we will find out if additional treatment is necessary and if it is, will extend her recovery time and increase her medical bills. 

As we get closer to the surgery date, we will also be establishing a meal train so we will update with that link in the future.
