Lisa Bandy Cancer Treatment Fund
In October, Lisa went in for a colonoscopy and came away with the diagnosis that many people fear... they found a cancerous mass. A few tests later confirmed that she was dealing with Stage 3 rectal cancer.
She starts treatment November 28th: 28 radiation treatments every weekday for 5 1/2 weeks, and daily chemo for 5 weeks. Approximately 6 weeks after her final radiation treatment, she will have surgery to remove the cancer... with possibly a week in the hospital, several weeks of recovery... and maybe maintenance chemo for weeks afterward.
There is so much to be thankful for. She has great medical insurance. After meeting her $3,000 out-of-pocket expenses each year, her insurance will cover 100% of her medical costs. Her job also offers 12 weeks of unpaid medical leave. Her prognosis is great, and we expect her to make a full recovery!
In order to make this difficult time as easy as possible, we are hoping to raise $7,000 to cover her out-of-pocket medical expenses for this year and next year, as well as have extra to cover the cost of her medical insurance and car payment while she isn't working.
If you know my mom, you know that she is the type that will (and has) taken in anyone during a time of need. She would give you the shirt off of her back. She is a caretaker at heart, and is most at peace when she is caring for others... whether that is her grandkids, or her dogs. Now we have an opportunity to take care of her.
So many of you have reached out with words of encouragment, thoughts and prayers... for that we are so grateful. If you could, please donate any amount, no matter how small, and share this fund raiser with others who would be willing to give. Keep the prayers coming, and we'll keep updating!
