Lisa Ann McLario: A Tragic Loss

Donation protected
I am raising funds for my best friend Greg who suddenly and unexpectedly lost his mother to Covid complications on March 23.

Last week, Lisa McLario was rushed to the emergency room and ended up passing away from 'Long Covid' comorbidities including Pneumonia and other debilitating ailments. Despite her commitment to an exceptionally healthy lifestyle, these illnesses came on suddenly and took her from us three days later. Her loved ones, her community, and especially her son are all beyond devastated and struggling to grapple with this unimaginable loss.

Lisa was a respected and valued member of her community and dedicated her life to helping the students at the school she directed for the last 25 years of her life. She made Georgia her home in 1993 and worked tirelessly to raise her two children, Greg and his sister. Recently, she was one class away from finishing her master's degree and was simultaneously advocating for her daughter (who has been suffering from a chronic illness). Lisa juggled a lot of responsibilities for many decades, and her son was a big part of helping her accomplish everything she was managing.

In addition to the heartbreak that Greg is currently enduring, there are many logistical responsibilities he now has to resolve (short term and long term) for both himself and his Mom/her estate. Greg chose to take care of Lisa in her final days and therefore missed a substantial amount of paid work to be with her. He also must now contend with tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills she accrued throughout her hospital stay where she ultimately passed away. Another major expense that now falls on Greg is the need to ensure that Lisa is laid to rest according to her last wishes. The cost of her final arrangements, obligatory household costs, debt consolidation, and miscellaneous expenses is substantial, which is why we are calling on our community for support.

Any contribution is deeply appreciated, and we will keep you updated as Greg grieves, rebuilds, and tries to move forward.
