Dearest family and friends, I have some exciting news to share with you all! I have been blessed with the opportunity to study abroad in Santander, Spain for six weeks this summer! I will be traveling in a group of nineteen students with my amazing profesora de Español. This trip will allow me to fast track towards a minor in Spanish without extending my time at UNCW. Amidst all the chaos of switching majors, finding a job, staying on top of my grades and pursuing my hobbies, my love for learning Spanish has never wavered. My whole life I have been fascinated with the language, music, culture and people, and the best way to learn is to be completely immersed in it all. While in Spain, I will be completing two Spanish courses while living with a host family. I will travel and interact with the people daily, which is key to enhancing my speaking abilities. Although I am beyond excited for this wonderful opportunity, I'm having to focus on the financial side of things first. I'm still landing on my own two feet and I do realize how big of a jump this is, but what can I say? I'm just a college student with a lot of hopes and dreams that I am willing to work for if it means I can help others in the future:) I am applying for scholarships and saving all the money I can for this opportunity of a lifetime. If you' like to donate towards my trip, I can assure you every penny would be appreciated. Aside from financial support, what I ask for first and foremost is prayer. Prayers for peace (I've never flown... ever), prayers for protection, and prayers for wisdom. I am so afraid and so excited at the same time, it's quite hard to put into words. I know this is truly the best way for me to learn Spanish and I am confident that I will make you all proud. I leave in the middle of May and plan to keep you all up-to-date on my adventures through Facebook! I love you all!
Much love and thanks,
