Lindsay's Cancer Fund

In January, 2018 my daughter Lindsay was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia), a quickly regenerating cancer that affects her blood and bone marrow. This was devastating news for our entire family and literally turned our world upside down! Now Lindsay would be upset with me if I didn't tell you that she - with the help of google - diagnosed herself. She called her doctor and said she "thought she had leukemia" but she needed her doctor to confirm that she DIDN'T have it. Sadly, that did not happen. After running some tests and an immediate hospital stay, it was confirmed that she did, in fact, have leukemia.

During this year Lindsay has spent several months getting treatment at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where local doctors referred her immediately after her diagnosis. She turned 29 years old during one of her many  hospitalizations at Rush. Her prognosis is very good but she has suffered many setbacks caused by her chemo treatments.

Although she is receiving phenomenal care, the cost of treatment, medications, tolls, parking and gas to and from Rush has started to take its toll on this now one income family. Lindsay has been unable to work since her diagnosis and even with the amount of overtime Daniel has taken on, they are beginning to struggle financially. Because of the aggressiveness of this disease Lindsay has to be seen usually at least twice at week at Rush, and in the upcoming weeks this will increase. Though they are living as modestly as possible, money is still running short. While it will likely take years to completely pay off the medical debt, the most immediate need is help with daily living expenses being incurred right now.

Prior to her illness, Lindsay was the CASA Program Director for LaPorte County, which means she advocated for kids. Lindsay has always made it her life's work to help everyone else and has often sacrificed to do so. She has been a blood donor and has worked selflessly and tirelessly on causes to help others, including cancer drives. Through her illness, when people asked how they could help, she simply said, "give blood". She did not want me to do this but now she needs our help. Please if you can find it in your heart to help my daughter, anything would be appreciated. If you can't give, please share this story....Thank you for helping to save my daughter who has done so much to help others! God bless you!
