Help rebuild mom’s home/life

My name is Shawn and I here to tell you the heartbreaking story of my mom, Linda. She recently has lost EVERYTHING in the wild fires in Southern California.

On Thursday December 7th I received a call from my mom and when I answered all I heard was panic in her voice and the words "they evacuated me and half the community is gone." The call dropped and I was unable to reconnect right way and wasn't sure what to think, so I looked on the Internet and my heart dropped as I saw the senior community my mom lived in completely engulfed in flames.

After several attempts I was able to talk with my mom, thank God she was safe!! I asked her what happened and I could not imagine going through the story she told. She explained that she was watching television when there was knock on the door. She ignored it at first but then she heard a loud bang and a voice yelling sheriffs department we need to evacuate now! My mom replied I need to grab some items and the deputy replied grab your cats and let's go, we have 20 minutes to get you out before the entire area is burning. He then grabbed her and forced her into her mini van and away she went. She left everything she had behind with no chance to save a thing.

Within the approximate 20 mins she was safe at her sisters house and as they watched the news coverage this is what they saw:


Mom's place WAS the 3rd from the right. As she watched in horror, her entire life was destroyed in minutes. She now has the clothes on her back, her two cats and her mini van and that's all. This is where I am asking for all of your help.

I understand this is the Holiday season and we are all being asked to help those in need but I can now contest that my mom is in dire need.

She has lost all her personal belongings, family treasures and her home but to add insult to injury she did not have insurance because she could not afford it. She truly has no way to recoup anything she's lost and that's were hopefully all of you come in.

Mom is a very proud woman and would never ask for help but as her Son I am not afraid to ask. She has always been there for me when I need a helping hand and now it's time for me to repay that love.

With that being said I am asking for anything you may be able to spare. I asking that you share with your friends and they share with their friends. Please share with your family members and co-workers. Every dollar counts and adds up, we are grateful for anything and everything to help get her life back on track.

Her world has been turned upside down and she is truly lost and not sure what to do, all your kindness would go along way to show there is a lot of love in the world and that holiday miracles do truly exist. Thank you for taking time to read my moms story and thank you for you help.
