Over the last week Taylor and I have been asked by numerous people to set up a GoFundMe for Lily. Originally we were uncomfortable with the idea, but people want to help and this is the best way to ensure funds are used effectively. It is important to Taylor and I that everyone has all of the information before donating. At this point we are unsure of how the funds will be used. We feel that a fundraiser is a good way of setting money aside to deal with unforseen costs. Donated funds may cover funeral expenses, extra medical care (most of which is already covered), adoption, or IVF. Left over funds will be allocated to some of the many organizations/research opportunities that have helped us through this journey. WE EXPECT NOTHING. Please do not feel obligated to give. We have received outstanding support in all forms. This fundraiser is a method for people to help that cannot offer other forms of support. Below is more information regarding our situation. Last week our baby girl Lily Costello was born and diagnosed with Zellweger Syndrome. There is currently no cure or method of treatment for the syndrome. Lily has a severely underdeveloped brain, is deaf, and most likely blind. She will struggle to interact with the world in any meaningful way. Unfortunately most babies with Zellweger Syndrome usually die within 6 months. It is incredibly rare for a Zellweger baby to live a year. She is fighting hard and we hope to bring her home some day.
