Lily Needs Surgery To Repair Torn CCL

This is Lily. She’s a 6 year old Shiba Inu, and she needs surgery for her right ACL (CCL for dogs).We rescued her in October 2017. A month after rescuing her, we noticed she had started limping after running around in the back yard. After taking her to the vet, they said it was a torn CCL (people have ACL, but for dogs they call it a cranial crucial ligament) in her left knee. At the time, my daughter worked for the local Humane Society, so they helped us in getting the surgery needed, which took place in March 2018. Surgery was a success and, as a Shiba Inu, she was able to resume being a Shiba, meaning being playful and doing her zoomies with her sisters, Sune & Roxy.

Flashforward 16 months and, while doing her zoomies, she jumped from the couch to the floor in full run and then yelped, coming up lame in her right rear leg. Oh no! Our first thought was. Was that the same leg she had repaired? No. Now it was the right rear leg. After a visit to the vet and incurring costs of sedation x-rays and examination, it was determined that she had indeed torn the right CCL. With my daughter no longer working at the Humane Society, we’re faced with having to pay for Lily’s knee to be repaired. However, I am currently battling cancer and my own medical bills are piling up, so this extra surprise of Lily requiring surgery is a gut punch. I can’t just let her suffer and not see her happy and playing, doing her Shiba zoomies. She’s such a loving and playful girl, and I want to be able to get her the surgery she needs. She’s my fur baby after all.

Estimates so far have been anywhere from $2500 - $5000, and we’ve already racked up over $600 just for the initial consult & x-rays.

Please help, if you can, so Lily can get back to her playfulness and zoomies without pain and limping.
