Lily Gladen Medical Fund

Lily Dash Gladen was born on April 4, 2020 and has been an absolute blessing from the start.  On Christmas Eve, she went in for a routine surgery to remove a small mass from her lower back. Initially doctors thought it was something like a lipoma, however the pathology came back as neuroblastoma, shocking everyone.

Paul and Becca spent the next week with doctors at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital trying to get a better understanding of how severe Lily’s case is. She underwent a CT Scan, MIBG (nuclear medicine scan) and had two bone marrow biopsies and aspirations on January 7th.  Unfortunately, the initial results are not great.  She is currently classified as having Stage 4 (or Stage M under the new system), intermediate risk, neuroblastoma.  If you are looking for more information, Lily’s surgeon recommended the following site: https://apsapedsurg.org/parents/learn-about-a-condition/f-o/

They are still waiting on results of the genetic test on the tumor to know what they will be looking at in terms of risk; if it is just bad (intermediate risk) or awful (high risk).  They hope to have the results in the next week or so.  What we do know is Lily will have to undergo at least 8 rounds of chemo and another surgery over the course of about 28 weeks or so. Should the genetic tests come back not in Lily’s favor, then she is looking at an even longer and tougher road to recovery. The doctors indicated that it is a very good thing that Lily is so young when they caught it, and that significantly increases her chances of beating this.  However, as you can imagine Paul and Becca are still heartbroken and terrified.

Fighting Cancer is stressful, not to mention trying to do it during a global pandemic. Therefore, we created a GoFundMe page for Lily to “help in anyway” during this stressful time.  All funds will be used to offset the cost of healthcare bills that have occurred due to this illness. Together we can make a difference.

Thank you so much for your generosity and prayers.  We will be posting updates on her progress as we receive them.
