Lilly’s Cancer Battle

Lilly has been a best friend of mine for 30 years since we met at the Medical College of Georgia in 1988.  She is a single mom who is now in the fight for her life as she battles a later stage breast cancer and the most aggressive kind.  Lilly has the most precious 8 year old boy who she is fighting for too.  I honestly can not even imagine what she is going through from a physical or emotional standpoint.  As a mom you just want to be here to love your child and watch him/her grow, to make sure they are surrounded by love and have a good life.  

Lilly does not have parents to support her and to make matters worse she just moved to a new town and is all alone.  She has a new job she just started last Novemember and now she can't move to be near any friends because she has to keep this job for the insurance to treat her cancer.  The social emotional toll of doing this with no support while taking care of a 8 year old is unimaginable to me.  She will need help to hire assistance to care for her child while she is receiving treatment or in the hospital.  Obviously she will need help for copapys, deductibles and co-insurance in this process all while trying to pay her daily bills and keep a job that is new with no accrued sick days or time off.
