Lillian Leilani Rypien Scholarship Fund

Thank you for your interest in helping to fund the Lillian Leilani Rypien Scholarship Fund, which is dedicated to funding women in need of treatment/therapy for trauma and love-relationship-sex addictions. Together, we can plant a stake in the ground to combat the poverty, stigma, and lack of public funding/support that prevent these women from getting help.

I am the the daughter and granddaughter of three remarkable women I’d like to tell you about, below. I’m also a recovered sex and love addict myself, and a licensed therapist who works to help women heal (this money will not go towards my services, however—I am simply the fund administrator*). I published my own story  with my mom’s total permission and support, but these women have stories too:

Lillian (bottom left in photo) was my maternal grandmother - married to a pedophile alcoholic, she tried 12-Step recovery for a little while, before falling back into her DV/abuse/denial marriage. No matter how much he drank or what he did, she could not leave.

Leilani (right; inset is her baby picture) is my mother, who got into 12-Step recovery for alcohol and drug addiction when I was nine years old, and later went to inpatient treatment for a drug relapse. She is still living, sober, and very brave, and I love her dearly!

Rypien is my paternal grandmother, Mary's, maiden name (top left). She offered me a safe haven as often as she could, though died on enough daily opioids to kill a grown man, prescribed by her doctor.  She struggled with a sugar/food addiction all her life, and devoured romance novels and tabloid magazines—I’m guessing to try to find some positive feeling while staying in a terribly conflicted marriage.

These women lived with SO much pain. My recovery was incredibly enhanced by their efforts to heal, but we all needed so much more. I want more for the generations of women to come. They are worth it!

If you or anyone you know wants to support women, or make financial amends to women you've hurt, used, bought, etc., think of this option...I promise it will go to good places, granted to women in need for high  quality trauma and addictions treatment  that can address love, sex and relationship addiction.

Thank you again! ❤️Staci Sprout, LICSW, CSAT

*I am donating 100% of the proceeds to qualified care for women. Selection of scholarship recipients will be made by myself and two licensed therapy colleagues with training in the evaluation and treatment of women with trauma, relationship and sexual addictions. Payments will be granted directly to treatment providers for inpatient, intensives, or outpatient therapy depending upon need and availability.

The reason I set the goal at 11 million is one dollar for each woman suffering. That is too low but we have to start somewhere! According to recent research, approximately 11 million women meet the diagnosis for Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder (CSBD).
