Lilith- weiter ein schönes Leben trotz Hufrehe!

Helping Lilith to have a good life despite laminitis!

Das ist Lilith, sie ist 16 Jahre alt und lebt auf Ibiza in einer kleinen Herde (mit Tella, Lady und Saratan). Gemeinsam mit meiner ehemaligen Arbeitgeberin haben wir Lilith 2010 aus einer kleinen Pferdezucht übernommen, bei der es schließlich mehr Fohlen und Stuten als geplant waren gab und daraus resultierend nicht mehr genug Platz und Futter für alle. Auch Lilith war tragend* als sie zu uns kam, mit weniger als 3,5 Jahren. Nach ihrem „Mutterschaftsurlaub“ ist sie 2013 dann schließlich mit zu mir gezogen.

Ich bin Rumana , Besitzerin von 6 Pferden , die ich über die Jahre hier auf Ibiza gefunden habe und denen ich, nach einem zum Teil nicht so glücklichen Vorleben, ein sicheres zu Hause gegeben habe, in dem sie sich alle glücklich fühlen und Pferd sein dürfen. Um ihren Unterhalt zu verdienen bieten wir pferdegerechte Ausritte an***. Der Plan für Lilith war, dass sie meine beiden Senioren Lady (28) und Saratan (31) im Alter unterstützen sollte, wir haben sie langsam ausgebildet und sie hat sich toll entwickelt. Lilith ist etwas ganz besonderes (so wie übrigens alle meine Pferde meiner Meinung nach ;)). Charakterstark bis eigensinnig aber auch liebevoll und verschmust.

Leider hat sie letztes Jahr eine Hufrehe entwickelt. Darüber hinaus stellte sich bei der Ursachenforschung zusätzlich heraus, dass sie unter Equine Cushing Syndrom leidet und jetzt ist sie gemeinsam mit Lady und Saratan im Vorruhestand und arbeitet, wenn es geht und wenn nicht dann nicht. Letzteres überwiegt bei ihr leider und selbst wenn es ihr gut geht, ist sie nur begrenzt belastbar. Während Saratan mit seinen 31 Jahren voller Stolz und Begeisterung ist, wenn er hin und wieder auf Ausritte mit darf, ist Lilith während Entzündungsschüben kaum in der Lage sich zu bewegen, was mir wirklich das Herz bricht.

Abgesehen davon, dass sie nun nichts mehr zu ihrem Lebensunterhalt mit beitragen kann, braucht sie mit ihrer Diagnose eine Diät, die aus Spezialkraftfutter und aus Heu als Raufutter besteht und deutlich teurer ist als die übliche Verpflegung eines Pferdes. Ein kleiner Ballen Heu kostet bei uns Stand heute 21,50€ (Preis bis Dezember 2021: 14,00€); auch ist bei uns kein idealer Ort für Hufrehepferde, denn der Boden ist überwiegend hart.

Dennoch ist hier Liliths zu Hause, und ich bin bereit, „Himmel und Hölle“ in Bewegung zu setzen, damit sie alles bekommt, was sie braucht und weiter bei uns in ihrem gewohnten Umfeld bleiben kann. Heute bedeutet das, Euch um Hilfe zu bitten… Ich arbeite zwar bereits daran, neue Einkommenswege zu erschließen beziehungsweise zu erweitern, denn ich war immer stolz darauf, die laufenden Kosten selbst tragen zu können. Durch die Preiserhöhungen in den letzten 3 Jahren (Pferdefutter und anderer Bedarf kostet nun oft um 1/3 mehr) in Verbindung mit Liliths Krankheit, stehen wir gerade vor einem tiefen Abgrund.

Wir benötigen Mittel, um die Kosten für Liliths Versorgung in einer Übergangsphase von ca. 12 Monaten zu sichern, sowie dafür in Liliths „Paddock“ mehr weichen Boden zu schaffen, zu diesem Zweck wollen wir zwei Ebenen mit Mulch oder einem vergleichbaren organischen Material aufschütten. Die monatlichen Lebenshaltungskosten für Lilith liegen etwas über 400,00 € im (ohne Kosten für Tierarzt und Medikamente). Die Investition für den weicheren Untergrund liegt bei wenigstens 1000,00 € sollte am besten sofort gemacht werden.

Deswegen wende ich mich heute an all die unter Euch, die so wie ich glauben, dass es mit Pferden wie in einer Ehe sein sollte: „in guten wie in schlechten Zeiten“ und „bis dass der Tod uns scheidet (nach einem hoffentlich langen glücklichen Leben in einer sehr fernen Zukunft!)“.

Ich bitte Euch um eine Beteiligung an den Futterkosten für Lilith während den kommenden 12 Monaten (4.800 €) und die Veränderung unseres Areals also aufschütten von Mulch und Erde für einen weicheren Untergrund (ca. 1000 €), zusammen 5.800,00 € -

So dass Lilith hier glücklich in einer ihren Bedürfnissen angepassten Umgebung weiter leben kann.

This is Lilith, she is 16 years old and lives in Ibiza in a small herd (with Tella, Lady and Saratan). Together with my former employer, we took Lilith over from a small horse breeding farm in 2010, where there were eventually more foals and mares than planned and as a result, not enough space and food for all of them. Lilith was also in foal* when she came to us, at less than 3.5 years old. After her "maternity leave" she finally moved in with me in 2013.

I am Rumana, owner of 6 horses that I have found over the years here in Ibiza and which, after a partly not so happy previous life, I have given a safe home where they all feel happy and are allowed to be horses. To earn their keep we offer horse-friendly rides***. The plan for Lilith was for her to support my two seniors Lady (28) and Saratan (31) as they aged, we trained her slowly and she has done great. Lilith is something very special (as are all my horses in my opinion ;)). Strong in character and stubborn, but also loving and cuddly.

Unfortunately, she developed laminitis last year. In addition, when researching the cause, it also turned out that she suffers from equine cushing's desease and now, together with Lady and Saratan, she is in early retirement and works when she can and when she cannot. The latter unfortunately prevails with her and even when she is well, she is only able to work to a limited extent. While Saratan, at 31, is full of pride and enthusiasm when he gets to go on rides now and then, Lilith is barely able to move during bouts of inflammation, which really breaks my heart.

Apart from the fact that she can no longer contribute anything to her livelihood, with her diagnosis she needs a diet consisting of special concentrated feed and hay as roughage, which is much more expensive than the usual food for a horse. As of today, a small bale of hay costs €21.50 (price until December 2021: €14.00); also, our yard is not an ideal place for laminitis horses because the ground is predominantly hard.

Nevertheless, this is Lilith's home and I am ready to move "heaven and hell" so that she gets everything she needs and can continue to stay with us in her familiar environment. Today, that means asking for your help... I am already working on finding or expanding new ways of income, because I have always prided myself on being able to cover the running costs myself. However, due to the price increases over the last 3 years (horse feed and other supplies now often cost 1/3 more) combined with Lilith's illness, we are currently facing a deep abyss.

We need funds to cover the costs of Lilith's care in a transitional phase of about 12 months, as well as to create more soft soil in Lilith's "paddock", for this purpose we want to fill two levels with mulch or a comparable organic material. The monthly living costs for Lilith are a little over 400,00 € in (without costs for vet and medication).The investment for the softer substrate is at least 1000,00 € should best be made immediately.

That is why I am addressing all of you today who believe, as I do, that horses should be like a marriage: "for better or for worse" and "until death do us part (after a hopefully long happy life in the very distant future!)".

I am asking you to contribute to the cost of feeding Lilith for the next 12 months (4.800 €) and to change our area by adding mulch and soil for a softer surface (about 1000 €), together 5.800,00 €.

So that Lilith can continue to live here happily in an environment adapted to her needs. Everything helps!
