Hello everyone, Light_Bringer777 here, developer behind the Learn to Fly series of flash games.
If you landed here, you were probably just playing one of my games, so I probably don't need to explain what I do. If you found your way here some other way and don't know my work, you can check it out here if you want .
So a lot of you may already know from social media, from my kickstarter campaign or wherever you hang around, but my last project, Learn to Fly 3, has taken ridiculously long to complete. In total, just about 3 years of work went into its creation.
It was an ambitious project... for a one-man team.
I've been a flash games developer since 2008, but in recent years flash has really lose its edge on the game development scene. This translated to greatly reduced revenues, and I currently expect Learn to Fly 3 to make about 10 to 20% of what Learn to Fly 2 made, or 80-90% less in other words... for nearly twice the investment!
That's terrible news for me. I don't regret the decision, I only hope that Learn to Fly 3 will bring in enough money so that I can keep making games for a living.

What's going to happen in the future?
Well, depending on how much resources I can have, there are a few possibilities that will open up for all of us.
First is to keep making completely free to play online games, either in flash or in Unity. This is the least profitable option for me and would either be temporary or require more support from everyone.
Second if to make "F2P" games with micro-transactions. You know the drill; everything in the game is basically doable, but you'll get more stuff, customization or convenience by supporting the game and paying a few dollars.
And finally, I can transition to paid games, like move on to making games for Steam. I think this is what is bound to happen eventually, but it might require a bigger upfront investment on my part as this means learning new skills, new tools and most likely would be a bigger project.
