Light to our Lives *Kirsten Smith*

We have all heard and seen stories about people who grew up their whole life blind or deaf. Some how we ask ourselves "what must their world be like?" Yet, what happens, when in a blink of an eye you go from living your normal life to unexpectedly not being able to see, actually seeing double, side ways? Do we really recognize how much we take being able to see, chew, swallow, breathe, walk, for granted? Think about it? Our voluntary muscles and organs do all of this for us, but what would happen if in an instant those voluntary, life sustaining actions become weakened? Myasthenia Gravis is a neuromuscular autoimmune disease which causes the body to attack itself and break down and weaken the nerves that enervate our voluntary muscles groups. My best friend and sister, recently was diagnosed with Myasthenia Graivs and for the past several months doctors were unable to find out what was happening to her. All of a sudden she was seeing double, and everything was turned sideways? Weird right?! Doctors said she had an aneurysm and did emergency surgery to discover, there was no aneurysm, no answer for her symptoms. Soon after she's been experiencing weakness in her face and eyes, only being able to keep one eye open at a time while her other eye can barely stay open, when she finally had trouble breathing they figured out this is Myasthenia Gravis. But thats not it, she has also been diagnosed with Hashimoto disease, another autoimmune disorder which attacks the thyroid.

Kirsten not only is having trouble seeing and breathing but struggles to hold her balance, along with speaking and swallowing, are all becoming hard earned tasks for her in her everyday life. Now that doctors have put the puzzle together he treatment isn’t for certian. There is no cure, but there are treatments to manage these disease's, and in time may be able to heal. She is under the supervision of specialists for MA in Aurora, CO at the Lewis Resa E MD-University of Colorado Hospital. I'm putting this gofundme account to ask the community near and far to please donate anything you can. These donations will be able to help Kirsten with her medical expenses, her time not being able to work, food, the cost of living, everything! She needs help and support from her family and the community. Anyone that knows this beautiful soul knows she brings light where ever she goes. She is the light in so many peoples world. She's a fighter for life, and to live the best life. Laugh like no one is watching, and love like there is endless amounts to give, because in her world God is love, and love is what's needed to live and enjoy this thing called LIFE. If anyone has anything to give, a little goes a long way. Please I just ask that you open your heart and ask yourself how much you really take things for granted and what if this was you. What would you do? If anything, prayers are always appreciated. I know some of you may not know this women, but if you can think of a time and a place with the one person who has been with you through everything, that is her to me. It a tough time but the road to recovery is near! Thank you for your donations! About Myasthenia Gravis
