Lifting Up Lexi Payne

Hi, my name is Wendi Hook and I’m creating this fundraiser for my sweet neighbor, Lexi Payne and her family - mom Joleen, dad Nate, and baby sister Rory.

Lexi is 12 years old, loves Harry Potter, softball, all animals, and Steak ‘n Shake chili to name a few things. She’s going into the 7th grade and has battled severe & chronic asthma since she was 6 months old.

In the early morning hours of July 13th, Lexi woke her mom saying she was having trouble breathing and thought they should go to the hospital. In the short amount of time it took her parents to get dressed, wake 7 month old Rory, and go to Lexi’s bedroom to get her, she’d become unconscious and was lying on her bedroom floor, not breathing. Joleen did CPR all the way to the hospital where staff met them, taking Lexi, and a code blue was called. Life flight took her to the local Children’s Hospital.

She began having seizure activity so she was sedated and placed on a ventilator. She hasn’t been stable enough for an MRI, but a CT scan showed brain swelling. She’s holding her own as of this moment in time, and we’re hoping for more signs of improvement. The physicians are calling her condition a near fatal asthma attack.

Because of Lexi’s lifelong battle with her health, her father is the sole breadwinner of the family. Her parents haven’t left her side and will be at the hospital indefinitely.

This family needs firstly our unceasing prayers. Secondly they need our support and contributions for medical bills, everyday expenses while away from home, and help supplementing their income for recurring bills and payments so they don’t have to worry about losing their home or vehicle.
