Running for Trans Visibility & Self-Love

My name is Justin Dickens. I live on Dena’ina land in Anchorage Alaska, and I’m going to run the Mayor’s Marathon in high heels. I would like to invite you to join me for that adventure and along my return trip to self-love. For the past 15 years, I had been missing my front teeth. That's the entire second half of my life. I had leveraged periodic access to health insurance, salary jobs, and dental specific credit cards but fixes always fell short. Hoping so relentlessly for an unattainable dream became to exhausting. So, I gave up. My self-love had deteriorated for so many reasons, but my teeth were always an visible representation of that deterioration. In 2021, that changed!!! With the help of this Go Fund Me, my savings, and credit cards, that dream became a reality! Join me in celebration as I run the marathon in high heels. 


I have decided to keep the Go Fund Me open during the marathon. Even though I did already get a smile make over, I did so mostly with credit cards and what money I had saved. I immensely grateful for all the folks who already donated; without all that love and support, I wouldn’t have had the courage to again have hope. It’s still unbelievable that this actually happened.
