Life with a Braille Machine
Donation protected
Shawn is a 5 year old boy that was diagnosed with ONH (Optic Nerve Hypoplasia) when he was about 3 months old, which is a condition arising from the underdevelopment of the optic nerves leaving him legally blind. Fret not because this is not a sad story but more of an encouraging one. This little guy does not let this stop him from learning and living life every day to the fullest. He gets so much joy out of life. This last August he started Pre-K and despite all odds he has accomplished so many things. He loves his new teachers and his new friends from school and on the weekends he can't wait to go back. He is always excited about learning and especially so on his Braille machine. We are asking for help to buy him his very own Braille machine at home to practice on and do homework during the school year. We'd like for him to have one for the summer so that he can continue to learn his alphabet. He is learning rapidly and we are so amazed by what he has accomplished. Any little bit will help us tremendously and is appreciated more than I can possibly put into words. We welcome all the advise we can get in our journey to helping Shawn learn and grow. Not everything is a struggle but some stuff sure is a little harder and we just want Shawn to experience everything we possible can . He is such a strong and loving little boy!!
