Life saving treatment for Michael

Help my brother Michael battle cancer

I am seeking funding for life saving therapy for Michael Sorensen, my younger brother, who has cancer.

Michael is 67 years old. He is a creative, passionate person, always thirsting for knowledge and very generous with his time. He has worked most of his life in the building trade, designing and renovating houses, with a special interest in conserving our building heritage and addressing climate change. His other great interests are music and sailing, and his dream is to embark on long distance sailing adventures with Elisabeth, his wife.

Michael is an important part of my life; he has inspired me and been there for me (at least since he was born!), and I want to enjoy this vital companionship for many years to come.  It is Michael’s full intention and our biggest wish that he gets back to his old self, with his quirky sense of humour and love of life.

Michael’s Story

A year ago, in September 2017, Michael was told that he had terminal cancer and only weeks to live.  He was given chemo therapy as palliative care by the public health system.  To improve his chances, Michael decided on supplementary treatments, most importantly mistletoe, intravenous C vitamin and cannabis oil, which he paid for from his savings. He changed his diet to a high alkaline, low acid diet. Now, a year later, chemo therapy has been discontinued as it was found to not be effective, and disappointingly, no alternative treatment is offered by the public health care system. By this time Michael’s heart, as well as nerves in in feet and hands have been affected by chemo therapy. In addition, Michael has used most of his savings on the supplementary therapies.  Even though he is convinced that these supplements have ensured that he is still alive, he is now uncertain about how to continue paying for them.

We urgently need your help

Michael has not given up –  he is courageous and determined to live, and to do so he wants to increase his mistletoe treatment. To do this, he needs to go to a clinic in Scotland (www.camphillwellbeing.org.uk) which has long experience and good results with using mistletoe therapies, giving the treatment intravenously under expert medical supervision.  More information here www.mistletoetherapy.org.uk  and here www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/cam/hp/mistletoe-pdq.

Michael has a wonderful wife to support and love him, as well as four loving adult children and a caring extended family and friends. He has the conviction and the will power to continue – but he needs the funds to make this possible.  Therefore I am asking everyone and their network to join us in giving Michael what it takes for him to actively engage in recovering his health as best he can by either sharing this gofundme-page or kindly donating.  Initially I want to raise enough funds for four treatments, over a year. However much you can give, whatever the amount, will make a difference.

With the support of his family, friends and community we can help him continue the fight. And I thank you all beforehand, from the bottom of my heart.
