Life Saving Spinal Surgery

My name is Dionisios (Dennis) Prokopis. I am 33 years old and have lived most of my life in pain because of my extreme scoliosis. I am originally from Zakynthos, Greece and have traveled around Greece and other parts of Europe in search of a spinal doctor that would accept me as a patient to perform the very difficult spinal surgery I need. After my challenging search, and being denied by multiple spinal doctors, I was able to find a doctor in New York at The Spine Hospital At New York-Presbyterian/Allen that specializes in extreme scoliosis cases. Dr. Lawrence Lenke is one of the world's foremost leaders in complex spinal deformity surgery, and is the only doctor willing to accept my case.
Currently, one of my lungs is almost completely crushed because of the curvature of my spine and ribs. I have lost almost all function in this lung, and have limited airflow in my second lung. Completing simple tasks, walking, and my daily livelihood has become compromised because of the advanced progression of my scoliosis. At my current rate, without this surgery my life expectancy is drastically shortened.
Any money collected from this GoFundMe will cover my medical expenses for the surgery, in addition to the rehabilitation needed prior and post-surgery. Below is some information about my condition, including the medical expenses we have been quoted for. I have also included pictures of my x-rays, and you can see the extreme nature of my scoliosis and how the curvature is affecting my inner organs. Additionally, there is a letter from Dr. Lenke outlining my case and the haste needed to undergo this medically necessary procedure.
