LIFE for KAITLYN

Donation protected
It’s Kaitlyn’s senior year at Mansfield Christian School in Mansfield, Ohio.  She is 18 years old.  In the Fall of 2018, Kaitlyn unexpectedly experienced a seizure.  This was alarming as she had no prior history of seizures- only headaches which she thought were migraines.  A quick MRI showed a small mass on her brain.  Kaitlyn underwent surgery in early December (2018) to remove the mass and we prayed the pathology results would return benign.  To our disbelief, we learned it was Melanoma, which sparked additional testing.

While her skin exam and lymph nodes came back normal, the PET scan found three "dots" on her liver. Not knowing if these were of  great concern, an MRI of her liver was scheduled.  She began radiation to the surgical site on her brain and also immuno-therapy in January however, we learned the cancer had spread and Kaitlyn was then diagnosed with Metastatic Liver Melanoma.  What was once a healthy, normal teen - now up against the fight of her life.

The first 2 treatments offered at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, were unsuccessful in killing the melanoma spots on her liver.  She is now on a third treatment to try and stop the melanoma from spreading.  As we all know, cancer treatments not only kill the bad cells, but also the good.  Kaitlyn has lost a considerable amount of weight and is growing weaker each day.

Kathy has had to stop teaching to stay home and care for Kaitlyn.  Steve continues to work full time but has been stretched very thin trying to keep up with expenses and stress of everyday life.

We would like to put out a plea first of all for prayer.  Please pray for strength and miraculous healing for Kaitlyn as she continues to battle this war.  Second, the medical expenses are overwhelming and taxing.  Although Kaitlyn's school held a fund raiser to help offset initial costs, there is still much more as you can imagine.  We are now asking for any help- no amount is too small.  Even $10 will help with medical bills and any future hospital visits.

Kaitlyn's goal for 2020 is what we all would want- she wants to live past her 19th birthday.  She wants to experience life.  She wants to go to church, drive her car, get a job and do all the things we so often take for granted.  Would you please pray and consider donating for Kaitlyn?

We thank you for your prayers and consideration in helping - May God Bless you and your family with a healthy and happy 2020.
