Who knew having fun with family would turn deadly? As many of you know, on Thursday August 4th, 2022 at approx 8:40pm, Aucturius Milner Sr. would lose his life at the hands of his favorite cousin. It was vicious, untimely and unnecessary. He did not have a life insurance policy which is making it impossible to lay him to rest with a proper burial. He lost his life that day in order to save the life of his daughter who he loved with all his heart. Although her life was spared, it came at a cost. With 15 gun shot wounds to different regions of her body, Auctavia Milner was left with catastrophic injuries and a long road of recovery ahead of her. The aftermath left her with needing several surgeries and reconstruction surgeries to both her hands, her arms and shoulder. She had one operation to repair the multiple fractures she had in her dominant right hand. She has to have orthopedic surgery on 8/7/22 on the humerus bone of her left arm with screws and plates to stabilize her injuries. It’ll be a while before she's able to use her arms so in return, the shooting canceled the job opportunity she was to start next week. Auctavia is unable to walk at this time due to the gunshot wound in her right thigh, which requires her to be evaluated by a physical therapist at a later date. Several gunshot wounds to the chest left her with a punctured lung that required a chest tube to drain the blood in that area… Learning to navigate her new life leaves her with many challenges and uphill battles to face with the first one being to bury her father with dignity. Her life is forever altered and donating what you all can will take care of her medical expenses, needed medications and funeral cost for her beloved father. It also allows her mother to take an extended leave of absence from work to be her primary caregiver. Let this be a lesson that she’s not just a victim, but a survivor with a purpose in life and a story to tell. Thank you all for the continued support and well wishes, it’s not going unnoticed.
