Liberian Partnership Serving At-Risk Youth

Liberian youth?
The Center for Changing Lives – Liberia (CCLL) serves Liberian children and youth whose parents have died from AIDS and Ebola. Aside from recent tragedies that involved these diseases, Liberia has also struggled in the wake of a 14-year civil war that ended in 2003. The center does amazing work and gives an education and a hopeful future to children who otherwise would never have one.
Transfiguration Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN is part of a network of Minnesota churches that provide support to CCLL and their committed team of Liberian social workers, counselors and teachers. As a result of this partnership, there is a growing number of children (currently 60) who are now receiving an education and vocational training. These children have a future with hope!
A team of 15 travelers is departing for Liberia on Dec 27, 2019. Our mission is to strengthen our partnership with CCLL by investing in relationships. As ambassadors of Transfiguration Lutheran Church, PACT and other partners, we will meet the children, youth and staff of CCLL, deliver school supplies and other gifts, share cultural experiences, and return with personal connections and stories to promote CCLL.
Fundraising is for:
1. Construction of a 50 person camp building for Liberian youth
2. Travel costs for team members who could otherwise not afford to travel.
The total cost of the trip for 15 travelers including the new camp building is $54,000
