On the night of August 21, 2018 our 2 eldest brother's (Casey our 18 year old brother and Liam our 12 year old brother)had been in a terrible car accident. Liam had suffered life threatening injuries, including a fractured pelvis and a diffused axonal injury (Brain Injury) that made him non responsive at the scene of the crash. The medical aid on scene told our family members who were present to say our goodbye's as he would most likely not survive being air lifted to CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario).
Against all odd's our little fighter had made the trip, all while still being unresponsive and suffering from multiple seizures throughout the duration of the helicopter ride.
His fight however is far from over. He's received non stop around the clock care from a handful of surgeons, doctors and nurses in the ICU. Seeing a loved one not being able to breathe on their own, move on their own or simply use the bathroom on their own makes your heart sink.
Although he is our little miracle and no longer in ICU he still remains at CHEO where we've been told there is a long road ahead for him. Most of which we are unaware of the treatments he will require as even after almost 2 weeks of being at the hospital he is still unaware and not fully responsive to his surroundings...
The Doctors have confirmed after numerous amounts of tests that rehabilitation including occupational therapists, physical therapists and physical therapy assistants will be required for Liam amongst many more things to be determined once he is fully conscious.
As the eldest sister of 6 siblings I am creating this go fund me page to help my mother who is a one income parent with all medical necessities Liam is going to need in the future.
It is with a heavy heart that I am here to say that any amount of support will be extremely meaningful to our family.
