Lexi's Journey to Sydney Power Soccer World Cup

Donation protected
My friend Lexi Heer has been playing power soccer for the better part of two decades.  She has reached the pinnacle of the sport and is now preparing to embark on a journey that leads to Sydney,  Australia. In October of 2022 she will be competing as part of Team USA in the FIPFA World Cup.  Training had already started before the pandemic hit and will resume in April.  As you can imagine this opportunity comes with a tremendous time and financial commitment.  All players are responsible for raising their own funds, so to help Lexi realize her dream I came up with an idea to help her secure the necessary funds to train and travel to compete on the global stage.  But first, I want to provide you some background on Power Soccer, the sport that has changed her life.

What is FIPFA and what is the World Cup?

FIPFA is the Federation International Power Football Association. Power Football, (soccer in the USA), is an adaptive sport for people who use a power wheelchair for everyday mobility. The sport allows these individuals to compete in an highly competitive level. To say it is life changing would be an understatement. Power soccer is the only sport that allows individual with this level of physical challenges to take part in a competitive sport.

Athletes across the United States compete in regional events and a National Tournament each year. There are 60 teams that compete in the Unites Sates alone. Every four years, a team of 12 is selected to represent the United States from 400 athletes. The goal is to compete against 9 other nations for the world title. Past World Cup competitions have taken place in Paris France, Tokyo Japan, and Orlando Florida. The next World Cup will be in Sydney. The road to the Cup is a long one. There are quarterly camps for training. These camps, require travel, hotel and meals. Then there is the international travel for the two week event itself. Each individual is responsible for the cost of camps and competition and a financial commitment of roughly $15,000.

Please help me, help Lexi achieve this goal.  My friends at Circle City Audio Inc. in Fort Wayne have agreed to lock me in their warehouse starting at 8PM, Friday, March 26th until her goal of $15,000 is reached, or until 12, noon on Sunday, March 28th, whichever comes first.  I will be forced to sleep in my chair and be very uncomfortable as you can imagine.  I am committed to helping Lexi achieve her dream of representing the USA at the highest level our sport offers.  I would ask that you consider giving to support her dreams and selfishly allow me to shower, change clothes, and sleep in a bed.
