Lexical Toastmaster Fund

I am Club Liasion for Lexical Toastmasters.  Lexical Toastmasters is unlike most clubs in many ways, for instance they meet twice a week and have many more guests than members attending their meetings. In their group, you have to earn the privilege to be a member. You see, this Toastmasters club is in Lexington Correctional Facility and its’ members are all incarcerated.

The men who earn the privilege to be members do so because they have a desire to change the path their life is on through improving themselves. Which gives them a chance at a better life after serving their time. One of the ways they are doing that is to learn to be better communicators. After all communication is a cornerstone of society. You must be able to express your thoughts and desires effectively as well as understand the thoughts and desires of others if you wish to lead a happy, fulfilling, and successful life. Toastmaster teaches those fundamental communication skills and how to apply them.

Unfortunately, many of these men do not have a financial support system outside of prison. Toastmasters’ dues are $36 every 6 months. That isn’t much money but it’s over 75% of their income because while in prison they make less than eight dollars a month, so I'm setting up this fund to help pay their membership dues.

My goal is to cover the cost of for 20 members for 1 year plus purchase a new club banner for them. If your generosity surpasses my goal, the money will be used to purchase manuals and awards for the club members.
