Hi - I'm Mike Bridge - known by many simply as Bridgey.
On the 5th June 2018, life changed for my family when I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The average life expectancy I was told was just 12 months.
Pretty devastating stuff !
I have decided to do two things, whilst I can. Firstly, I am participating in a medical trial which for sure gives me some hope but just as importantly will help a better understanding of my condition for others. If this saves someone else - that would be just brilliant.
Secondly, and the purpose of my fund raising efforts is to try to raise as much money to support the opening of a Hospice in Winchester.
See www.winchesterhospice.com
The appeal has raised close to £1m of the £2.5m needed to provide the dignity, support and care that end of life patients deserve. It will also act as a hub for palliative care services in the local area. Currently people have to travel some distance which adds to the burden at the most critical of times.
A great team of people are trying to get this project completed for 2019 and I am proud to be acting as an Ambassador on their behalf.
My competitive spirit would just love to be able to hit my fundraising goal and to be able to be a part of a local success story.
Thank you for reading my story and, I hope, for your generosity in making this happen.
