Let's do it for Kerala- Yellowknife

Dear Friends,

My State in India, Kerala is being affected with torrential rains, overflowing rivers and a series of landslides which has taken several lives and property. Kerala has been devastated by the unprecedented catastrophe caused by massive floods that lasted for several weeks. Hundreds of troops have been deployed to rescue those caught up in the flooding and landslides.

As per the official data released, over few hundreds of people have lost their lives while the death toll is on the rise and over 660,000 have been rendered homeless or displaced. The houses and livelihood for thousands of people were destroyed. The floods also caused massive damage to the state’s infrastructure by knocking out bridges, roads, and buildings resulting in serious hardship to those living in the affected areas.

The misery still continues… And is likely to go on for several months until the government and the relief agencies can reach out and help rebuild the lives of those affected. Given the enormous stretch of the affected areas, that mission requires tremendous amount of funds.

We the Kerala community in Yellowknife is reaching out to our friends and colleagues for their kindness and generosity in way of whatever possible donations. We have decide to run this campaign till 31st of August and transfer these contributions to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund bank account.

Let’s stand together and help Kerala rebuild.
