Let's raise funds to support Cat Lane

Hi, my name is Sandee Roelcke and I have started this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to support Cat Lane, of The Possible Canine over the next while so she can recover from serious medical issues and continue her life’s work and passion: keeping our pets healthy.

It is impossible for her, at this point, to keep up the client schedule necessary to survive financially. As her health improves, she will be slowly getting back to work but, it will take time. As Cat is her family’s sole breadwinner, she will need some help to pay her rent and basic bills and put food on the table. Here are the details of her situation:

After a few weeks of feeling increasingly unwell, Cat collapsed Friday, March 3rd and was taken to the hospital. Initial blood tests showed a profoundly low RBC (red blood cell count), with the doctors indicating she was close to death from anemia. Six blood transfusions brought her into a safety zone, but the cause of the bleeding was still unknown – further testing revealed a large gastric ulcer, which likely had been bleeding steadily for some time, to cause the emergency.

The medical team was able to manage the bleeding, but her severe anemia caused heart damage, resulting in Cat having one lung half full of fluid and both legs and feet enormously swollen. After days, the hospital cautiously released her with an arsenal of meds and multiple follow-ups over the next few weeks. She seems to be improving but is very weak and needs a period now of recuperation. While the doctors are hopeful that much if not all the heart damage can be reversed, it is very early days.

Cat supports her human and animal family, and her expenses have been mounting every day, causing further stress. She is anxious to return to her work but has been unable to do so since the incident and will need a few weeks at least to get up and running again.
