LET'S HELP JOANIE "JOANIE BAGELS" MONROE

For many years, my family & so many others in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood area have started our day with a visit to Fanwood Bagels and were greeted by the smiling face of Joanie Monroe, or, as she became known to many," Joanie Bagels". With an uncanny ability to remember everyone's name, Joanie always managed to make you leave with a smile on your face, even when you didn't feel like smiling.

For the past 21 years, Joanie has been there after every one of our children's sporting events, dance recitals, school events, etc asking our children how it went and handing them a piece of candy when Mom & Dad weren't looking. She is a beloved staple of our SPF community.

Joanie recently learned that, effective immediately, she would not be kept on to continue performing a job she loved with the new owners who took over Fanwood Bagels.

Because her sudden termination came as a complete shock, Joanie is now not only dealing with the emotional trauma of losing a job she loved without having an opportunity to say goodbye to the loyal customers she served for the past 21 years, but is also dealing with the fear of an uncertain financial future. Joanie relied on her weekly paycheck to help pay her monthly bills, and at age 70, is concerned about her future employment prospects.
