Let’s Help Charlotte Kick Cancers Ass!

On the 20th July 2021, Team ICU will be walking the 5 peaks of the GUH Critical Care Unit (each of our patient pods are named after 5 of our beautiful welsh mountains). We will start at Twmbarlwm as the sun rises, then walk onwards to Machen, Blorenge, Sugarloaf and then finish our day watching the sunset from the top of Skirrid .

We are doing this in aid of a very special friend and colleague Charlotte. A friend that puts everyone before herself, a friend that makes you belly laugh until your sides hurt…even on the toughest days.

She is an amazing partner to Arwen, dog mummy to Mimi, Otis, Lola and Dolores. The most incredibly supportive daughter to Denise, a true soul sister to Kelly, and the greatest aunty to Luca and Fi.

As if that’s not enough, Charlotte is one of the most caring nurses we have had the pleasure to work with. Whilst working on the ICU she always strived to deliver the best possible care to her patients. Charlotte continues to do this, whilst now working as a nurse within the drug and alcohol service.

Recently, Charlotte has become a patient herself following a devastating diagnosis of Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma. She has already undergone multiple painful procedures to aid diagnosis, and is about to embark on a gruelling Chemotherapy regime. This will take at least 6 months to complete.

We would love nothing more than to give a little something back to Charlotte. We can’t change what she is going through, but we can try to help alleviate some of her worries. We would love to raise enough funds to help ease the financial burden of this cancer diagnosis. We hope that there may be some left over for Charlotte to treat herself too….
