LET'S GET SOME GIRLS THROUGH SCHOOL!!!

Donation protected
Hi Friends,
Rob and I here at The Biscuit Factory are writing to update you and enlist some help with the girls education project we've started in Kenya.

(Here's some background on how we got started:  https://gofund.me/c5625523)

We have amazing volunteer support on the ground, assessing and recommending girls who need help paying their school fees and college tuition.

So far, we have supported Marion through Teacher's College, raised funds (from you!!) to buy her a laptop and paid for school fees, uniforms, sanitary products, school supplies and shoes for dozens of her students.

Now we are supporting Marion as she goes for her master's degree in curriculum development.

This semester we also sent Syprose to MEDICAL SCHOOL - which involved 2 days travel to Mombasa, food, board, tuition, textbooks, medical supplies and another laptop.

Now we want to send Immaculate Auma back to the Hospitality program she had to drop out of after an accident in which she lost her left leg. (We think that smile will be a real asset in the tourism industry.)

Lydia needs fees for secondary school where she is a day student - about $100/semester is the difference between school and no school.

Belinda left school for a child marriage which she escaped because of violence and now wants to go back to school to earn a degree in social work.

Okello is a public health student who had to drop out with just three semesters left after she was orphaned. We want to send her back and give her a chance at a career.

Orpha is a sixth-grader whose mother is a widow. She was going to take work as a household maid when discovered by our outreach efforts. We can get her into school supplied with books and uniforms for a bargain $275 for the whole year.

Those are our most urgent priorities!

Some of you might be aware that I worked on a feature film about an orphaned teen girl in Zimbabwe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t08nhX0hUDY) called Shaina. These girls are real-life Shainas facing all of the same risks - teen pregnancy, sugar daddies, gender-based violence, child marriage - but education can set them apart, keep them safe and give them choices.

Thank you for considering!
xoxo
