Let's get our book into schools around the world

We need your help to make academia more inclusive!

Not all research careers look the same. Not all academics spend their working lives in labs, or dark offices surrounded by dusty books. A research career can mean working in theaters or schools, influencing policies, working with the world’s leading brands and businesses, and much, much more. Women and non binary academics remain underrepresented in the public’s consciousness.

To address this we wondered how could we get the stories of some of our amazing members out to students and children? We came up with the book ‘ResearchHER’, and we need your help getting it into schools: with 1500£, we will be able to send our book for free to areas which need it the most.

This book showcases the diversity of women and non binary academics, their research and their career journey’s. Each short chapter offers an insight into a real-life researcher, their background and journey into a research career, what they’re currently researching, their top tips for budding researchers, and fun facts and activities to explore yourself.

ResearcHER smashes stereotypes to show you that research is not just conducted by men and women in lab coats researchers are women from all backgrounds, researchers come from diverse geographies, are disabled and able-bodied, are transgender, nonbinary, queer. The message we want to convey to children, especially young girls, is that researchers look just like them, and they can be one too.

The book has been published by Emerald publishing and we are now aiming to get this wonderful book into as many schools across the world as possible, which is where you can help! Please support us by sponsoring this campaign so that we can pay for more books to be posted to more schools, inspiring young people and educating them about academic research.
