Let's build my brother's sterile room together ♡

My little brother, Szilard has been diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukaemia) in August 2021. It came as a huge shock to all of us. He is a healthy young chap (25 yo), plays football, works hard, plays hard. Just recently moved out of our family home to start his own life. A week before the diagnoses we were having fun at our stepbrother's wedding...

 

Since then, he had completed two rounds of chemo, needless to say there are more to come. However, I wouldn't go into much details as we have been extremely lucky that our older sister Zita is a perfect match for him to give stem cell transplant, which could give him a fresh start to beat this horrible illness. So we are focusing on the positives!

 

The homecoming will require a bit of advance preparation from us, since the stem cell transplants destroy and rebuild the immune system, leaving my brother immunocompromised (or what) and he will be more vulnerable to infection from common germs etc. It usually takes 3 to 12 months for the immune system to recover from having a transplant. Therefore, the hospital asked us to accommodate a sterile room for him , where he can be safe and sound.

 

The construction of this room will involve quite a work, which will cost us a bit more than we have and has to be done pretty quickly. I would like to do all I can to help him and my family by raising funds to refurb our home and build his new room where he can have as much time as needed to recover.

 

Don't feel like you need to help, but if you can or you know someone who could spare some for us would be a huge help. My whole family is overwhelmed by the support we already getting from you lot. ♡

 

He is young, strong and really wants to beat this. Let's help him to get there!
