Let's KEEP Lincoln WALKING!

Donation protected
Hello! We are Nathan and Kelly Clark. The parents of the AMAZING seven year old Lincoln! Our son has Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy. In order to better his independent mobility and keep him walking, he is in need of two surgeries. The first and most important is SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) surgery. This surgery is to eliminate the spasticity (tightness) in his lower extremities. Lincoln can walk some independently now, but uses his walker at school and on outings because he tires very easily from constantly fighting the tightness (spasticity) in his legs when walking. He also uses hiking poles for our adventures in exploring nature on our walks on trails and camping with Cub Scouts. We have been told that if Lincoln doesn't have this surgery, as he grows he will need his walker more and that into his adulthood he will likely need wheelchair assistance. Sadly our insurance will not cover this surgery. We are looking at $39,000 for the first surgery and $8,000-$12,000 for the second (tendon lengthening) surgery three to four months after the first surgery. We are trying to pull funds from every possible place at this point. Time is of the essence for these surgeries. The SDR surgery produces the BEST results if done by age EIGHT. If you would like to help by making a donation, we would be extremely grateful. Every parent wants what's best for their child. We strongly believe that SDR surgery performed by Dr. T.S. Park (Neurosurgeon) at St. Louis Children's Hospital is the best for our son and his future.
