Let’s keep Ann on the move

Onset of symptoms
On November 19, 2017, Ann Pottorf suffered an overwhelming feeling of weakness in her arms and legs. She was taken to the emergency room and was later flown by helicopter to Vis Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. On November 20, she became paralyzed with what was diagnosed as Transverse Myelitis, a neurological disorder that causes inflammation along the spinal cord and can damage nerve cell fibers.
Ann spent the first 9 days in St. Francis undergoing various tests and receiving high dose steroid treatment. After that she was transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Via Christi Rehabilitation Hospital for further treatment. There she received specialized care including three hour-long sessions each day of intense physical and occupational therapy. Ann remained at the rehabilitation hospital until her discharge on January 4, 2018.
Return home
In preparation for her return, Kent worked to make their home ready for Ann’s special needs. He built a wheelchair ramp, widened doorways, purchased a new bed, and more to make the home functional for wheelchair bound Ann. All this was made possible with the help of family and friends.
Ann will continue rehabilitation at home, to strengthen her arms and legs in the hope she will be able to walk and function as she did before this illness.

What you can do to help
In addition to expenses already incurred (bills not covered by insurance, travel, changes to the home, etc.), Ann and Kent are hoping to purchase a $3300 power chair, which Ann will use while she recovers.
We are asking friends and family to donate to help Ann and Kent cover these costs. We have set a $1000 goal.
If you would like to help you can donate toward this $1000 goal.
And you can share this message with other friends of Ann and Kent.
We extend our sincere thanks to all who pray for us and seek to help.

THANK YOU so much for your generous donations. We've exceeded our goal of $1000, which will be applied to the costs incurred in past travel and house preparation expenses. Another $1000 will be applied to future travel and hotel expenses for several doctor visits in the next month or two. We couldn't have accomplished this so quickly without your good wishes and support. We will keep the champaign open until Friday, Jan. 26th. Any funds donated between now and then will be applied to espenses such as the $3300 power chair. We thank you for your support and continued prayers. God bless you.
