Hello everyone.
My sister Cristina Margarita Medrano Escobar, is going through a serious health problem. She lives in Chicago Illinois with her husband and son only.
A few weeks ago, she was diagnosed with Infectious Cellulitis, which caused bacteria that entered her body as a consequence of uncontrolled diabetes (she did not know she had diabetes).
What started as an apparent abscess, got complicated to the point that it caused very high fevers and excruciating pain, so she had to be hospitalized in an emergency.
Once diagnosed, a practically mid-back surgery was required to remove the matter causing the infection, plus aggressive antibiotic treatment.
Fortunately, the surgery has been a complete success and the infection has subsided in recent days, leading to my sister's recovery.
This is where the concerns come from.
As we all know, medical expenses in the United States are really high and my sister, unable to have health insurance, is waiting for the bill for her hospitalization. Today she have already received the first charge for $ 1,300.00 that covers only the 4 hours she received for immediate attention in the emergency room.
To this must be added the 11 days that she was hospitalized, the medications provided, the follow-up of her surgery and the cost for a machine that she currently maintains in her home, since she needs it to accelerate her healing (this machine given to loan, owned by the hospital).
We need the help of everyone who reads this, with as much money as possible. Any help adds up!
Due to the current situation of COVID-19, her husband has lost his 2 jobs, since he worked in restaurants and even if he managed to get a job at the moment, he could not take it, because my sister needs constant attention and currently they cannot give luxury of paying for a nurse. Her son is also not an option, since he is only 4 years old.
We expect the hospital bill at the end of the month, which we can deduce will easily exceed $ 40,000, so we have already started to work, to start raising as much money as possible and thus reduce the impact of the debt.
We, her family, are saving on our side as much money as possible to help her financially. However, we have determined that it will be impossible for us to cover all expenses without receiving help, since beyond medical expenses are the others expenses derived from her husband's unemployment.
