Leslie's Funeral Relief Fund

Donation protected

On November 11th, I texted my mom on a whim. I had the day off unexpectedly, and I asked if she wanted to go shopping for a Christmas tree. Thirty minutes later, she was at my door. I brought out Ginger, my boyfriend's small Maltese who my mother quite possibly adored more than anything else on this planet. We laughed as Ginger tried to navigate down the front porch in her brand new, way too big rain jacket. We talked. We hugged. And, ten minutes later, my mom leaned on the side of her car and wheezed "Get help." She was having a heart attack, and less than twenty-four hours later she would be dead.

My mom was 53 when she passed on November 12th. She was too young, and, unfortunately, left no estate planning behind for my younger brother and me. Now, we have to try to give our mother the proper send away and celebration of life with very little funds; John, who is 20, is a full-time student, and I, at 24, have just barely started getting my footing.

Due to the sudden nature of her passing, my mom did not have a will or life insurance policy to help alleviate the cost of funeral services. As an independent contractor and stay-at-home mom, she also has no benefits to pass on to us. Not only does this mean that we have to pay for her funeral out-of-pocket, but that also means that John and I must try to buy back our childhood home--where John currently lives--or lose it forever.

Mom was a joyful person who was always there for the people around her. She did everything she could to get John and me where we needed to be, and she did nothing but help those around her. Now, we're humbly asking that you help us repay her kindness.

With your donation, you can help make sure that John has a place to live in six months, that Mom's elderly dog (Misty) can get the treatments she needs, and, most importantly, that Mom can rest in peace.

Thank you so much for your help.

Sincerely,
Brittany Lundberg
