Leo's Dreams & Wishes Fundraiser

I have been given permission from Leo's Mum to start this fundraiser and I would like as much support as possible to help create amazing memories for Leo and his family. Leo is a local 8 year old boy living in Darwen, Lancashire, he attends a Darwen primary school and lives with his mum and two sisters. Below is his heart-breaking story of how he will sadly lose his life to an aggressive grade 4 Stage Cancer.

 

 

Below is Leo's story, written by his Mum Adriana.

 

"For those who don't know I am a single mum of 3 beautiful children, Mia 9, Leo 7 and Katie 6.

Any parents worst nightmare became a reality for me when my precious boy Leo was diagnosed with an aggressive grade 4 cancer on his brain on 26/06/2020 , it all started one evening on 14/05/2020 when Leo became unresponsive following a seizure and had to be intubated and ventilated , prior to this my boy was fit and well and showed no symptoms what so ever.

 

The tumour Leo has is very rare, it is called atypical trematoid rhabdoid tumour (ATRT) but it has presented in the form of dusting on his brain (primary diffuse leptomeningeal). I believe that a tumour has only ever presented in this way on 4 occasions worldwide to date.

Leo began his fight on 30/06/2020 he is receiving high doses of chemotherapy and radiotherapy on his entire brain and spine to attempt to fight the cancer as surgery is not an option for Leo due to the form it has presented in.

I am not going to lie, this is by far the hardest thing I have had to digest and prepare to fight."

 

A heart breaking update on Leo's Story 16/09/2021

 

"So today we had a meeting with the consultant and it was a very hard meeting if I’m honest, we was told that no matter what they give Leo now nothing is going to work for him this horrible horrible nasty disease is going to take my little boy away if could be months or years but it’s very unlikely to be years this disease was always a very slim chance of survival I just thought that he was doing so well Leo’s handled everything amazing and I’m so so proud of him a medication that is being given to him is just to prolong his life a little longer what ever is given to him is just to weak for him they can see 5 tumours up to now scattered around his spine more could be there but we can’t see them as of yet."

 

Every parents worst nightmare became a reality for Adriana and her family, Together we can help them create amazing happy memories that can last a lifetime.

 

So please dig deep & donate as much as you can. I am trying to organise some fundraising events, more information on them will be released on a later date. Every penny we raise will go towards Leo to bring him as much joy as possible.  His mum is going to ask Leo what days out and places he wants to visit this weekend - Sadly Leo is feeling weaker as days go on, so I am trying to organise his days out as soon as possible.
