Leonora & Lisette fundraiser for Avon Needs Trees
Who are we raising money for?
UK registered charity Avon Needs Trees . They look to buy land in the local area and re-wild it in order to help the climate crisis and create more new permanent woodland in the Avon and Bristol area. It’s a brilliant small charity in need of support.
Leonora-What challenge have I set myself?
Having not run (or barely done much exercise at all) for several years, I decided to start running again last year when lockdown started. By the end of 2020 I had run just shy of 400km so this year I have decided to really challenge myself. Throughout 2021 I plan to run at least 500 miles (over 800km) within the year. I will be recording all of my runs via Strava and will have to prove I have done them via Virtual Runner UK who I am registered with. I need to do at least 100km of this in April as part of my challenge and will run a half marathon at least one this year as well as a few fun runswith my son who turns 4 in April. I also hope to encourage others to get involved in anywaythey would like to and as restrictions at the time allow
Why this charity?
For those that know me, they will know I’m very passionate about sustainability and I wanted to be able to support a smaller, local charity that has a climate change/re-wilding focus. I wanted to make a big commitment to helping the climate crisis throughout the whole year. Please take a look at this amazing charity through the link below

Similarly to Leonora, I hadn't been exercising much in recent years, but having been ill with pneumonia (or was it Covid?) in December 2019, I decided in mid February last year that I should get out and get fit! By the end of last year I had run 344 km...so this year I intend to double that to 700km. I also intend to run a half marathon with Leonora later this year! I am recording all my runs on my Nike Run Club app and will be joining virtual runs and seeing what I can achieve on that too!
Why this charity?
I am also a supporter of sustainability and climate change and when I saw this I knew I had to join in and support this amazing charity...so please contribute anything you can to help repurpose land to create new, permanent woodland.
