Leonard kicks Liver Cancer

Meet Leonard - An incredible woodworker by trade, gardener by hobby, man of faith, loving husband and father, the world's best sugardad and we couldn't imagine our life without him!

In February of 2016, Leonard attended a routine check-up with his Hepatologist only to find out some very shocking and heartbreaking news.  He was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma, otherwise simply known as liver cancer.  This type of liver cancer is the most common and accounts for approximately 75% of all liver cancers.

They say the true measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in times of challenges and controversy.  With this in mind, Leonard never let his diagnosis become his prognosis and was ready for a fight.

He was quickly referred to MD Anderson for doctors' visits and treatments.  Over the past 15 months he has been through countless blood draws, doctors' visits, CAT scans, MRIs, and numerous TACE procedures.  Through all of this he has never let cancer rob him of his strong faith in the Lord, his compassion and kindness, or his quirky sense of humor.

Thankfully his recent tests have shown that he is currently cancer free; however, this type of cancer has a high rate of reoccurrence and the TACE procedures are only buying him time till he can receive a highly anticipated liver transplant.
In the meantime we have started this fund for several reasons. The initial reason is because Leonard requires a very costly pre-operational medication that costs several thousands of dollars a month even after insurance.  Secondly, over the past fifteen months his medical bills have been accumulating at an incredibly speed and they are mounting rapidly.  He also pays for travel and accommodations both to and from Houston and as I'm sure you can imagine this all becomes VERY costly.  With your support we can give him some piece of mind and help offset the costs of all these medications, doctors' visits, and treatments.
