After 97 days she’s finally home!!! After waking up Feb 29th 2020 with severe chest pains and being air-flighted from Coshocton Hospital to Genesis Hospital her world turned upside down. When she woke up, she knew something wasn’t right. Her family immediately feared of a heart attack and called the squad. The doctors quickly determined it was MUCH worse. She had a Aortic dissection and needed emergency surgery ASAP. After 12 1/2 hour surgery she was in CCU with a ventilator and then eventual tracheostomy. Days after her surgery, COVID-19 became a reality. Her family had to deal with limited visits when she was at her worst. But battles are not uncommon for Leisa. In 1988 she started having symptoms of ‘Myotonic Dystrophy’ (form of MS), Oral cancer in 2006 and then Breast cancer in 2007, in which she fought and won! She’s one heck of a survivor, but this one has hit her and her family extremely hard. As if this wasn’t enough, it all happened the day after her husband retired. Their world has literally turned upside down.
Now that she is home, she will begin her recovery with outpatient PT. They will also be moving into a one-story house since Leisa cannot climb up stairs yet. And, because we know her family would never ask, we want to call on our friends, family, our amazing community, her friends and customers she knew from her 38 years at Buehlers grocery & their fellow members of the Roscoe United Methodist church; if you can help her and her family with the constant medical bills or if you just want to give her some support to help with everyday life, words will never be able to express our gratitude. Her everyday life is just beginning and we are all trying to get her back on her feet. Please find it in your heart to give. Any amount would be appreciated.
